Next Meeting of the Presidium of the Ganja Branch of ANAS Held
The meeting of the Presidium was opened with a welcoming speech by the Chairman of the Ganja Branch of ANAS, Academician Fuad Aliyev, who introduced the agenda to the participants.
The main topic of discussion was the importance of preparing the "Development Concept and Roadmap of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) for 2025-2030," approved by the Presidium of ANAS on October 21, 2024, under Resolution No. 20/2. It was emphasized that all matters discussed in the meeting must comply with the requirements of this resolution.
Key tasks included continuing efforts to modernize the structure of ANAS, improving structural-functional, scientific-research, and scientific-organizational activities, and ensuring these activities in the Ganja Branch meet contemporary standards. Measures to enhance scientific management, especially by expanding the application of digital technologies, were highlighted. The development of electronic science, advancing the "Electronic Academy" to a more active phase, evaluating scientific activities using new scientometric criteria, and ensuring cybersecurity measures were also discussed.
In this context, Farhad Mirzayev, Head of the Electronic Services Department, presented necessary measures for the comprehensive implementation of digital technologies, particularly the "Electronic Academy." He addressed the current state of the communication and networking infrastructure of the Ganja Branch, emphasizing opportunities for expansion and the application of digital systems, scientometric methods, and artificial intelligence.
Another agenda item was the presentation of reports on the scientific and organizational activities of the scientific institutions of the Ganja Branch for 2024. Scientific Secretary Gunay Jafarova informed departments and other entities about the specific dates for these reports.
Further discussions focused on planning scientific research work for 2025 and the scientific conferences to be held that year. These issues were reported by the Director of the Nizami Ganjavi Center, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Alimukhtar Mukhtarov, the Head of the Department of the Institute of Humanitarian Research Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Ruziya Guliyeva, and the Head of the Ethnography Department of the Institute of Local-lore Studies, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Associate Professor Samira Gasimova.
The meeting also included a speech by Sara Azizova, Deputy Chairman of the Branch, Ph.D. Sara Azizova, on the results of admission to doctoral and dissertation studies at ANAS for 2024, as well as participation in the "Sustainable Environment: Transition to Green Energy" conference to be held at the Baku Higher Oil School on December 6, 2024.
Other current issues were also discussed during the meeting.
