A roundtable titled “Our Glorious History” dedicated to November 8 – Victory Day and November 9 – State Flag Day was organized by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ganja City Executive Power, and the Ganja Branch of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

   The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the commemoration of the fallen martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our homeland.

   The Chairman of the Ganja Branch of ANAS, Academician Fuad Aliyev, welcomed the participants of the roundtable, congratulated them on the occasion of the holidays, and described the event as an important scientific gathering for a deeper understanding of the glorious essence of Victory Day and State Flag Day, which are proud and cherished historical moments for our nation.

   He evaluated Victory Day as a triumph of the powerful state and military-building strategy of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, emphasizing that under his leadership, and thanks to the unity of our people and the unparalleled bravery of the Azerbaijani Soldier, the territorial integrity of our homeland has been fully restored.

   The Head of the Ganja City Executive Power, Yadigar Bədəlov, congratulated the participants on the holidays and stated that, as always, he gladly attended the meetings held at the Ganja Branch of ANAS. He noted that the roundtable dedicated to Victory Day and State Flag Day was organized at a high level. He also mentioned that under the leadership of Academician Fuad Aliyev, the Ganja Branch of ANAS always takes an active position in the public life of the city.

   Yadigar Bədəlov invited the participants to tomorrow’s holiday events to be held in Ganja.

   The moderator of the roundtable, the Deputy Chairman of the Ganja Branch of ANAS, Candidate of Sciences Sara Əzizova, introduced the speakers.

   At the roundtable, the Head of the Archaeology and Ethnography Department of the Institute of Geography, Doctor of Sciences, Associate Professor Samirə Qasımova spoke on “The Patron of Our Tricolored, Crescent-and-Star Flag – Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev,” Director of the Nizami Ganjavi Center, Doctor of Philosophy in History Əlimuxtar Muxtarov presented on “Sacrifice for the Homeland, or Our People’s Sacred Victory Day,” an employee of the Ganja Branch, participant of the Patriotic War, Əhməd Aslanov talked about “My Memories of the Patriotic War,” the Director of the Institute of Bioresources of the Ministry of Education, Candidate of Sciences, Associate Professor İmran Qasımov spoke on “Victory Day is a Day Written in Golden Letters in Azerbaijan’s Military History,” and the Head of the Nizami Ganjavi Center’s Department Təranə Verdiyeva presented on “The Azerbaijan Victory in Modern Ganja Poetry.”

   Discussions were held around the presentations.

   At the end of the event, Academician Fuad Aliyev thanked the participants for their meaningful speeches and emphasized the importance of increasing the contribution of our scholars to the further flourishing of our country through their research and active civic positions.

   Academician Fuad Aliyev instructed the local Trade Union to award the employees of the Ganja Branch of ANAS who participated in the First Karabakh and Patriotic Wars in connection with these honorable holiday days.
